印度有13億人,和中國有拼,但人均GDP僅不過美元一千多,也被世界銀行定義為低收入經濟體。目前它的feature phone仍占六成,smartphone四成,內需市場的成長潛力雖不待言,但絕大多數人民所需用的手機都處於hTC不會有利潤的極低價格帶。

講低價,自然不能不講到鴻海。新任總理莫迪之競選承諾「印度製造、數位印度、潔淨印度」,配上鴻海在印度大佈局的思惟以及郭董這次揮軍印度的深度,遠遠不是只想「賣手機」的hTC所能想像。

當然,這個英語為官方語言之一的國家同樣有富裕階層,但他們心目中智慧機的高端產品,也是目前市占率還小贏hTCApple, Sony, 以及早已佈局在當地設了三座研發實驗室總共僱用一萬多名工程師掌握近三成市場的Samsung

至於hTC目前在印度主攻的中階機呢?現在低價高規已成智慧機裡的全球主流;而這個擠得要命的區間裡有的是小米華為中興華碩,現在又加上了個大投資結合官方與印度業者會玩血洗市場策略的鴻海。
