迄本書完成撰寫之時，已經有1TB（Tera Byte）的硬碟問世，其價格約為三千元新台幣上下。1TB約等於1024GB(Gega Byte)（1TB=1024GB）、1024GB約為1048576MB(Mega Byte)（1GB約等於1024MB，1024×1024=1048576）、同理，1048576MB約為1073741824KB（1024x1024x1024）。而經過掃瞄器掃瞄進入文件管理系統之一頁文件，以黑白的文件而言，僅需要200DPI1（Dots Per Inch）就可以具備能夠清楚辨識之品質，這樣的文件大概需要耗費100KB左右之硬碟空間。也就是說一TB的儲存設備大概可以儲存約一千萬頁之文件。
儲存一千萬頁文件大概花費三千元新台幣，另外備份兩份總共也只需要九千元新台幣，想要買櫃子加上足夠的文件夾來存放傳統書面文件，一定就會超過這個價錢。除此之外，市面上能夠在數年之間產生一千萬頁文件的企業也是屈指可數，九千元的儲存設備對於一般企業來說已經綽綽有餘。總而言之，電子化文件管理系統不但不會帶給企業財務上之負擔，反而還可以因此省下企業的空間、人力、管理等資源成本。
